INTRO!

Hey! Thanks for checking out my blog page~ Let me introduce myself with some basics before I get into the juicy blogs.

I'm a senior French Major at SRU with minors in Leadership and Theatre (Acting). Two of my favorite things in life are musical theatre and going dancing in heels...the best workout on Earth. I'm that girl that never stops singing: while cooking, walking, disassembling my M16 rifle and especially while driving. I have too much energy for my own good because the people closest to me can get overwhelmed when they are mentally tired.

I'm in the Army ROTC program, actually ranked the top cadet here and #34 in the nation out of 4,439. That's based off of QPA, physical fitness scores, campus involvement, Commander's input and results from this summer's Leaders Development Course (LDAC). That was 33 days being evaluated as a military leader in Fort Lewis, Wash. We led combat missions and get tested on every aspect of Army skills. I ended up #4 in my Platoon of 46 based on commander's rankings. For those out there who think that Officers are not as knowledgeable as the enlisted soldiers, FYI- I enlisted when I was 17 years old and went through basic training & worked at a unit for 3 years before getting an honorable discharge to become an Active Duty officer. I graduated Airborne School and jumped out of perfectly good airplanes and will enter the the Military Intelligence Branch. The reason I love this part of my life is because my closest friends end up being the ones who train with me. They live with me and know everything about me. We are around each other way too much, but I love it. Especially the Ranger Challenge team! --5:30 am rigorous practice everyday (Sundays off) & 7am-1pm on Saturdays! Being the only girl on the team is annoying sometimes, but it makes me stronger to be forced to perform at a man's level. This year's competition is Oct 18 &19th at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. Last year we got 3rd overall out of 19 Universities in NY, NJ & PA! Yes: we beat Penn State, Rutgers and Pitt!!

I grew up on the NJ coast. My family still lives at the beach, but I hardly get to go home with all of my commitments at school. Between being Prez of French Club, Prez of Pi Delta Phi, Chief of Staff of the ROTC (Executive Officer), a Peer Leader (assist teaching FYRST seminar classes), Intramural Captain, Honors Program Mentor, French Tutor, campus jobs, in charge of Football game Concessions and on the Ranger Team...I don't have much time to sleep. Oh yea, then there's classes. But this is the life that I choose because I love each of these things and refuse to give one of them up. Plus they literally paid off in scholarships which makes it so that I have no college bills! YES!

Slippery Rock is the only place that feels like home to me anymore. If you go here, you know. If you don't, you will soon find out.

If I can give one piece of advice to students, it would be: Do everything in your power to keep your grades UP and be involved on campus! This will open up endless opportunities for you.
Please come back and read the rest of my blogs!!!
